Empowerment Dream Programme (EDP)

Since 2004

The EDP is a tool which provides interventions in the form of sponsorships and scholarships to the needy children from slum communities, rural communities, street children and other underprivileged children.

Aims & Objectives of EDP

  • To give scholarship and sponsorship programs for deserving children from marginalized families for primary and secondary education
  • To provide an opportunity to talented children and youth to pursue higher education in any stream – technical, professional, and skill oriented

Bharat Mata High School

This is a community based program which has been initiated in Mumbai’s second largest slum community MALWANI (MALAD). The families dwelling here come with a variety of disadvantages which are linked with the community surroundings. We have a team of community workers who keep in touch with the families and take feed back of the progress of the children. The children are coming from large families where there are more than 3 or 4 siblings, thus not physically and emotionally motivating them to acquire any form of education. We initiated a process where in an ‘Education Kit’ was provided to the children. This education kit consisted of uniforms, fees, text books and stationary. This is paid to the school whereby the children are ensured of an education “free of cost” if they come regularly to school. Today there are 800 children on EDP.

Little Angel’s and Goni Nagar Slum

A small kindergarten for slum children in Andheri, Mumbai. It prepares the foundation of the children living in the slum community at Goni Nagar, Andheri East. The kids are prepared for admission into the English Medium Schools. There are 200 children on this project.

Help Project Crayon's to continue to provide these types of innovative tools and services.
